COACH’S MESSAGEWe are very excited to get started with the season! While official tryouts are next week, we are beginning our preseason training this week so that we have a strong start to this year’s spring season. There are a lot of announcements and links this week, so please read everything.
THANK YOU!A BIG THANK YOU to Sadie, Izzy, Janie, Sonya, Tori, Kenna, Blake, Cora, Ashley, Hannah, Ava, Ellen, and Abby! We had a lot of players in the concessions booth for Friday’s basketball games. Thanks for your commitment and good energy. It’s an important part of our offseason to work with the booster club and raise some money for the program.
PRESEASON TRAINING THIS WEEK (PLEASE RSVP!)This is a big week as we get ready for our season. We will hold preseason trainings Tuesday-Friday, and we will use the week to get into a regular schedule and get started in learning team tactics and our style of play. We will also start some training sessions in the weight room before going to the grass field — make sure you are checking the schedule each day this week.
RSVPs THIS WEEKThis week, we are asking for RSVPs, as training is still voluntary. Once the season starts, we will expect that every player is in attendance unless we are told otherwise, so we will not use RSVPs for practices.
CLUB PLAYERS (IMPORTANT!)Please communicate this week if you are still having club training. Our main goal is to keep you fresh while still teaching you what you need to know as our season starts. This may mean reducing the volume that you are doing with us while you are still learning what you need to know. To do this properly, we need to know your schedule. Please talk with us.
PLAYER AND PARENT MEETING ON WEDNESDAYPlease attend this week’s preseason meeting at 7pm on Wednesday. After a short introduction from Mr. Brown (he already gave the long one in the fall), we will meet for soccer. I’ll have a short talk for players and a short talk for parents, so that we are all on the same page. Please attend!
TEAM HANDBOOKPlease review the
team handbook, and bring any questions you have to Wednesday’s meeting.
SWAY TEST ON WEDNESDAYOn Wednesday, after weights, we will take 15 minutes to complete your SWAY test for the year. This is the test that our athletic trainer Jessi needs in order to establish a baseline for any potential concussion evaluation this season. Please bring your phones.
TRYOUTS NEXT WEEKOur tryouts will be a little longer than our normal practice schedule, since there is usually a lot more administrative work to do. Tryouts will be from 3:15-5:30, February 23, 24, 25, on the grass fields. We will talk more about tryouts at this week’s meeting.
TEAM GEAR ORDERS OPEN THROUGH FEBRUARY 26Order here! The team store will be open through February 26 and close one day after tryouts are completed. Place your orders!
